The Trustees

The body of Trustees consists of up to 5 persons being:
1)     One nominated Trustee
2)     Up to four co-opted Trustees
The nominated trustee must be an appointment by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) but need not be a member.  Co-opted trustees shall be persons who through residence, occupation, employment or otherwise have special knowledge of the area or by virtue of their personal or professional qualifications can make a contribution to the Charity.
The present incumbents are:-
Heather Gooch, Chair of The Gooch Trust
Heather Virgin

As well as being a co-founder, Heather is currently Chair of the Trust. The daughter of Archie Gooch, she is married with two children and three grandchildren. She grew up in Ilminster and spent a good deal of her adult life living in the Ilminster area. For many years she worked as Human Resources Director at Gooch and Housego PLC.  She is now retired and lives in Bude, Cornwall.

Dr Peter MacKay
Dr Peter MacKay

 

Peter moved to Somerset from Glasgow to work at Gooch and Housego in 1997. He is currently Principal Technologist and involved in developing new processes and working with Universities. He is currently a member of BSi and ISO involved in defining standards for the photonics industry.  As the nominated Trustee, Peter is a member of the Fabric Committee at The Minster and is also Organist.

Marion Ward - Secretary

Marion has been an Ilminster resident since 1973. She is married with two children and five grandchildren.  She was PA to Mr Gooch at Gooch and Housego, during which time she was involved in some of the administration for the Trust.  As a confidante of Mr Gooch, Marion is very aware of his wishes for the Trust and became a Trustee in 2006.

Katie Burling
Katie Burling

 

Katie is Heather Virgin's daughter and the Granddaughter of Archie Gooch.  She spent 12 years working in Recruitment and Human Resources mainly in large Telecoms companies in London and Bristol. She now lives in Bristol with her husband and daughter and works two days a week in a local school, whilst spending the rest of her time as a stay at home mum.  

Ewen Cameron
Ewen has a family history connected to Ilminster and the communities and land around it.  He grew up in Whitelackington, has lived in Edinburgh, Paris, Singapore and London and had a career in marketing and branding before returning to Somerset to manage the Dillington Estate.  He now runs the Dillington farming and rural property business which lies to the North and East of Somerset.
